SITUATION
RocketFuel Blockchain, a start-up company focused on simplifying cryptocurrency transactions, needed a PR program to break into the crypto-press, increase mindshare and build awareness with the investment community.
Unlike most crypto-payment platforms, RocketFuel offers a one-click payment solution that allows consumers to pay with more than 50 different cryptocurrencies – a key differentiator in the industry. Merchants can collect payment in the fiat of their choice while RocketFuel handles complex conversions on the backend and offers a price-settlement guarantee. RocketFuel selected Plat4orm based on the agency’s deep technology expertise, background in FinTech and track record securing earned media in trade publications, business press and broadcast media
STRATEGY
Plat4orm developed and implemented a media-relations strategy focused on securing “quick wins” and immediate results. We leveraged the launch of RocketFuel’s solution as a news hook to position the company’s CEO as a thought leader in the crypto-space, commenting on payment technology as well as changing coin valuations and regulations. Our team created media opportunities selected to convert to coverage quickly by tapping relationships with crypto and payment reporters, and by making RocketFuel’s CEO available for commentary on trend-jacking opportunities and breaking news headlines.
For example, the phenomenon of younger millennials and Gen Zers increasingly adopting crypto-currency in lieu of cash/card payment methods provided a platform to secure tier-1 coverage and position the CEO as a go-to resource with media. We supported outreach with a strong cadence of contributed bylines in retail industry publications to support the company’s lead gen efforts with its core audience: merchants. This effort resulted in multiple byline placements, podcasts and inclusion in both industry-specific and business press outlets, including a byline in Business Insider and briefings with top media such as Protocol.
RESULTS
After less than 6 months of working with RocketFuel, Plat4orm secured 26 pieces of coverage, including 5 podcasts and 6 bylines. In addition to Business Insider, coverage included Digital Transactions, CoinDesk, Finance Magnates, Retail TouchPoints, Retail Technology Insider and The Payments Show Podcast, among others.
